Dwarfing Rootstock ‘Yunnan’ Quince Promoted Fruit Sugar Accumulation by Influencing Assimilate Flow and PbSWEET6 in Pear Scion

چکیده
‘Yunnan’ quince (Cydonia oblonga Mill.) is used as the dwarfing rootstock for pear (Pyrus spp.). Here, we reported that sugar contents in mature ‘Zaosu’ fruit grafted on ‘Yunan’ (Z/Q) were higher than ‘Duli’ betulifolia) (Z/D). To investigate underlying mechanism, leaf photosynthetic capacity and leaf-to-fruit assimilate transport initially analyzed. The was similar between Z/Q Z/D, but greater Z/D. Sugar transporters mediate distribution of assimilates; therefore, changes PbSWEET transcriptional patterns examined. PbSWEET6 highly expressed fruit. Thus, function related to further verified. Sucrose glucose increased transgenic tomato calli overexpressing PbSWEET6. Taken together, these results suggest positively regulated by influencing flow PbSWEET6-involved assimilates scion.

Evaluation of Pyrus and Quince Rootstocks for High Density Pear Orchards
High density planting systems are a prerequisite to economise the use of land and labour costs of orchards. Dwarfing rootstocks controlling the vigour of the scion cultivars form the basis for such orchards (Wertheim and Webster, 2005). In the Netherlands, rootstock research is limited to and focussed on testing rootstocks selected abroad. For the Dutch pear growers the main selection criteria ...

The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the influence of four clonal rootstocks (Quince A, Quince B, Quince C, PQBA29), and two seedling rootstocks (Gownjony and pear) on growth and performance of two pear scion cultivars namely Shahmiveh and Natanz. In the course of the experiment, vegetative growth indices including, current’s season shoot length, height of scion cultivars, trun...
متن کاملcomparison of the dwarfing effects of two hawthorn and quince rootstocks on several commercial pear cultivars
a principal obstacle facing intensive pear orchard establishment in iran is the absence of appropriate dwarfing or semi-dwarfing rootstocks, compatible with commercial cultivars, as well as showing adaptability with alkaline soils. this research aimed at an evaluation of the hawthorn seedlings (crataegus sp.) as a potential dwarfing rootstock for pear and a comparison of its dwarfing effects wi...
متن کاملInteractions between rootstock, inter-stem and scion xylem vessel characteristics of peach trees growing on rootstocks with contrasting size-controlling characteristics
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The primary physiological mechanism influencing tree vigour in size-controlling rootstocks of peach has been related to the hydraulic conductance of the rootstock. Differences in rootstock hydraulic conductance are a function of rootstock xylem vessel characteristics. The present research examined whether the vigour and xylem vessel characteristics of the rootstock influence...
متن کاملTolerance to iron chlorosis in non-grafted quince seedlings and in pear grafted onto quince plants
Grafting is a technique that may affect plant tolerance to iron chlorosis in plants cultivated for their fruit. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the tolerance of non-grafted quince seedlings and pear grafted onto quince plants cultivated in pots with alkaline soil. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse at the University of Cordoba, Spain, in pots (3 L) filled with a...
